About Mahasthama Bodhisattva
Mahasthama Bodhisattva, one of the Great Bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism that represents the power of wisdom, is often referred as the trinity along with Amitabha and Avalokitesvara, in Pure Land Buddhism. The name "Mahasthama" literally means "arrival of the great strength".
The trinity, from the land of Sukhavati (The Western Paradise of Amitabha Buddha), are offering help to all beings who aspired and wished to be reborn in the land of Sukhavati at the end of their lives. (Amitabha) Buddha-name chanting is the practice of Pure Land that all of us can achieve to be reborn in Amitabha's Pure Land, the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Sakyamuni once described a detailed account of Mahasthama Bodhisattva in the Visualization Sutra for all beings to practice mindful visualization.
